U-Values

U value is a measure of heat loss, dividing heat lost in watts (W) by square metre of material, when the outside temperature (k) is at least one degree lower (W/m2k).

The lower the U value, the better the insulation.

The U-values of Spray Foam Insulation

Spray Foam Offers Better U-values Than Conventional Insulation

With better U-values than wool insulation, spray foam insulation offers fantastic thermal efficiency, which means it can be applied at a much lower depth. Think of how much space cold roof insulation takes up, particularly with the new 300mm legislation – it essentially renders your loft useless. Use My Loft enables you to do exactly that, knowing that you’re assured excellent U-values.

Generally, you’ll need a depth of around 150mm to attain a U-value of 0.16 W/m2K, but a depth of only 40mm will enable you to achieve a stellar U-value of 0.40 W/m2K.
